Peter Cattrell
Peter Cattrell was born in Glasgow and raised in Edinburgh. He graduated from London College of Printing in 1982 and has taught at Camberwell, London College of Communication and now, Central St Martins, since 1986. In the 1980s he printed for Fay Godwin's books and exhibitions, later for IWM London and made prints from the British Library's Fay Godwin archive negatives for the 2017 exhibition at MoMA, Machynlleth.
Peter's creative work mostly features the landscapes of Britain and Europe, using traditional film and fine printing darkroom techniques. He is drawn to locations through historical research and personal association.
Group shows: Tate Gallery Liverpool, V&A, Saatchi Gallery, Scottish National Portrait Gallery and in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Houston Photofest, New York; Spain and Portugal.
Solo shows: The Photographers' Gallery; Bibliotheque Nationale; National Galleries of Scotland; Afterimage Gallery, Dallas, Texas.
Peter's project on the landscape of the Great War has been exhibited in Dublin, IWM, Durham, Edinburgh, Robert Fleming Gallery, Sheffield, Ludlow and now, ffotogaleri y gofeb Machynlleth.
